I've been neglectful again. It seems whenever I get in the habit of posting a lot or at least once daily, I get distracted and disappear for days. I truly want to get in the habit of posting once a day! I think it will improve my writing and it will get me into a habit that is good for me and provides a form of stability.
So what's my neglectful excuse? I've been reading. Which I suppose actually plays into my 101 Challenge, but I should still make room for the blog. My apologies, Blog! I shall make a renewed effort to write on you daily. ;o)
As for reading: I'm currently knee deep in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I cannot stand some aspects of it, but overall it's easy reading that entertains me (particularly, Eric and Sookie's interactions crack me up). I tried to watch the spin-off show, True Blood, and I can't handle how they've completely massacred the books. I also really know I'm in the minority, but Anna Paquin visually reminds me of a porn star, so it's hard to swallow that when I'm reading the books and picturing her as Sookie now.
Gah!
I have B reading the first Sookie book and he seems mildly interested in it. Though not as much as he has been in the past with other book series.
Before all this vampire craze (my mom introduced me to the Sookie series), B and I read Karen Chance's Cassandra Palmer series. More recently we've taken up her Dorina Bahsarb series. We love the way that Chance brings historical explanations for her character's behaviors. It's clever and fun.
We also really liked the Percy Jackson series and the Fablehaven ones. I really loved the Red Pyramid and look forward to more twists on Egyptian Mythology. Dean Koontz's Frankenstein is a must read if you're in love with supernatural stories. I'd also recommend Bruce Coville's Unicorn Chronicles if you're into fantasy. It has goblins, war, and dragons if you think it's all fluffy and rainbowy! Men can enjoy it too.
I see a trend with my reading tastes for pleasure and it's not romance. I wonder what that says about me?
